Love is Love
Felix + Josh wanted to get married at a sustainable urban farm—a meaningful location where they dated, volunteered, and shared their love for food, surrounded by guests and lots of details from those loves incorporated throughout. With this mission in mind, I suggested an all-in-one invitation format that was eco-friendly and matched their venue, with natural white linen paper for that refined but intimate feel. I also created illustrations of some of their favorite harvest foods (some of which would be served at the reception or given as wedding favors) and a special insert of a map (one of Felix’s favorite things) with Josh’s illustration of the couple on the reverse.
The complete wedding paper suite included a budget-friendly double-sided program with special thanks on the reverse, the reception menu, and hand-written table number tags to match. The one thing I didn’t anticipate—we wound up with two different versions of the invitation getting printed and distributed to guests! No, this wasn’t a mistake; Josh and Felix couldn’t decide which one they liked better—a garland or a wreath format, and so they went with BOTH. I mean, I knew this couple as extremely generous but….Mind. Blown.
I don’t anticipate having something like this ever happen again, but I do hope I can continue being part of such meaningful things and connections through design. It’s always an honor and a fun opportunity to get to know people or learn new things through this crazy career I’ve chosen!
